Well against my better judgement, we now have Modern Warfare 2 at I-LAN, at least in a limited capacity. Currently we have a copy available for our 360’s, and we’re evaluating if we’ll be adding it to the PC’s. Stop down and check it out, I’ll admit the game looks and plays amazingly, however, I still can’t deny what they’ve done to the PC version, hence the evaluation. Game on Guys!

Borderlands Showcase Coming Soon

That’s right, we’re getting the long awaited new title from Gearbox…Borderlands. We’ll be running a standard showcase event for this game, so you’ll get a free hour to try the game. We’ll have it on both the X-Box 360 and PC. This game is a mix of FPS and RPG. Think Diablo II meets Fallout meets a standard shooter. There’s 4 player Co-op available and persistent characters, so lots of fun to be had. Stop down and give it a spin just in time for Halloween!

Showcase begins on October 21 and runs through November 7th. Stop down during the showcase and you’ll receive a free hour to try the game out at no cost to you! What more could you ask for.

HALO 3: ODST COMING TO I-LAN

Of course we wouldn’t miss the next installment of Bungie’s greatest franchise ever. Our consoles will be ready for some ODST action by Saturday, September 26th. Incidentally, that’s also when the Halo 3:ODST showcase kicks off, imagine that. Stop down and give the game a spin, and remember as always, you get a free hour to try the game.

Magic the Gathering Vintage Tournament

Brown County Fair

Hey, just wanting to let everyone know that we’ll again be setting up a booth out at the Brown County Fair. Our goal this time around is to build an email list of like minded gamers for our store. The more info we can get out the more positive events we can run and from there it’ll be bigger and better events.
Of course, the fair isn’t the fair without some great give-a-ways. So let’s see, we have a great indoor chinook helicopter to give away, and how about your own 2 hour LAN party for you and your friends! Just stop out and sign up for these great items. We’ll also be running some great specials on our back issues of comics to reduce some inventory, so check it out!
One last thing, anyone that can identify the secret message in our flyers from the fair, we’ll give you a free hour of gaming time. Just stop down to the store when we’re open during or after the fair and let me know the answer!

Magic 2010 Release

Well, it’s that time of year again, and Wizard’s is providing us with the next “core” revision of it’s venerable Magic the Gathering collectible card game. The new core set actually introduces new cards, makes some Planeswalkers part of the core game, and some new great surprises.
Here’s a break down:

Set size: 249 cards (101 Commons, 60 Uncommons, 53 Rares, 15 Mythic Rares, 20 Lands)

Product lineup: Five intro packs, 15-card booster pack, fat pack

We of course will be carrying the entire lineup. The set will be available on July 17, 2009. At this time we unfortunately will not be running a release event this time around, as past participation has greatly dropped off. Please if you’d like to see us run sanctioned events, or any events for that matter, please get on and register an account with our website. This will allow us to start a mailing list that we can use to get feedback and announce tournaments and events. Let’s go gaming community!

On a side note, our back room play area should hopefully be available in the near future (we’re shooting for an August opening). When this happens, I have lots of great new ideas for tabletop gaming, as well as some new console tourneys and such! Watch us grow and reinvent gaming in Aberdeen!

Pig Out Tourney After Action Report

Well, just a quick blurb about the July 10th’s console tourney.

Brawl players…..where were you? Reload had to cancel the Smash Brothers Brawl tourney due to lack of players. Halo 3 players on the other hand did turn out and had a good time. We ended up with a 6 player double elimination contest for bragging rights, a Halo t-shirt, and one of McFarlane’s latest Halo 3 action figures. There was some great action and everything ran like butter (save for the lack of players). I’d like to thank all those that attended and also a big thank you to Reload for bringing the event to the LAN center.

Plans are in the works for a sequel event, possibly when Halo ODST releases or around back to school time. Keep checking back here for more updated information. Loved to see the new faces and some very old faces that hadn’t been to I-LAN in some time.

Mechwarrior (PC/360) Announced!!!

Those of you who remember back to the opening days of I-LAN surely will remember the 6 person LANs (I mean we only had 6 PC’s back then) of Mechwarrior 3, then 4, and then Mercenaries. Well it’s been 7 years since a new game has been released and Smith and Tinker (Jordan Weisman’s software startup) has announced that they are going to reboot the entire Mechwarrior franchise! That’s right awesomely large robot battles in a well established universe, what more can you ask for.

Details are limited right at the moment, but I’ll post back with more information as it becomes available, along with a great teaser video (Pbwarrior will love that one). Stay tuned for more information, the worst thing….they haven’t even picked a publisher yet, so it looks as if it minimum it’ll be a 2010 release. Oh well, hopefully it’ll be worth the wait!

To Add or not to Add 360’s?

Well, analyzing the gamer community here in Aberdeen is as always, like reading the ole treasure map. We’ve noticed that there are quite a few console gamers around, and we’re wondering if it would be desirable for us to ramp up the number of Xbox 360’s we have here at the store? We’re looking at a total of 8 360’s on smaller screens (22″-24″), and one large projector driven game lounge room for Rock Band, Wii, Guitar Hero, etc. Add your comments if you think you and your friends would frequent I-LAN if we did this.

Also watch for a new expanded used game sale area as well as an increased collectible toy presence coming soon. We’ll be tweaking the layouts in the future. Keep stopping down and checking things out!
